A good deal of information about John Muir's hiking in the Sierra Foothills on his way to Yosemite can be found on the site www.johnmuir.org/walk created by Peter and Donna Thomas. In 2006, they reenacted John Muir's 1868 trip (for which the original journals were lost) and provided an abundance of background information valuable to anyone considering a visit along the Highway 132 Gateway to Yosemite National Park.
